So, the cross border train we took from Vienna took 45 minutes to get to Bratislavia. When we got there, I saw that Bratislavia was not as run down and 'lok cok' as I previously thought it to be, and it turned out that Bratislavia is actually relatively modern, with large shopping centres, large supermarts and well built high-ways. We only stopped by Bratislavia for less than 24 hours, because there was really nothing much to see.
After we checked into our hostel, we went to the main square, which was the oldest part of the place we went to in Bratislavia and I think because it was a Sunday, but few shops at the main square were opened. There was a political event going on though, and some politicians (we assume) were on the stage speaking.
We were all very elated when we found that there was KFC somewhere outside the main square and had lunch there. It was the first ever KFC we saw in EUROPE, and thus we were really excited and happy. (It's crazy how just the sight of KFC can get us all hyped!!!)
Our dinner was at the Slovak Pub, and the food we had there was the BEST I had in the whole trip! The price was also reasonable and the portion was big, in addition, the pub's atmosphere and decor was very cosy and had a homely feel. There was even a real fire place and we saw a waitress throw in firewood into the it. =) We stayed til quite late and this was the only night life we had in our trip, it being the latest we stayed out at night. =X
Oh, and there was this resident bulldog at the hostel! He is very cute! And he keeps making breathless noises and also sticks out his tongue. =)
The next morning, we set off for the bus station and took the bus to Prague. This stop at Bratislavia was not too eventful, save for the panic we had when the bus we were supposed to get on arrived at the terminal just 5 minutes before it was scheduled to leave. (We were told to be at the station 30minutes before deparure!) We were all so worried we got the wrong bus terminal as there were no signs indicating the name of the terminal, but luckily the bus was just late and thus we left Bratislavia after the small fright.
And the next stop would be Prague, which is to me, the best place out of all the cities we went to in this trip! =D
